Friotex has been contracted for the design and execution of the Meat Freezing Tunnel at the Avinyó Slaughterhouse (Central Catalonia).
challenge
• This is a freezing tunnel featuring highly innovative aspects.
o Refrigeration Plant Room Area:
Primary refrigerant: NH₃ (ammonia)
NH₃ system with condensation and oil cooling via water chilled in a cooling tower.
• Economiser system
• Compressor with capacity regulation via variable speed drive linked to slide valve system (Brand: Howden)
• Cooling tower control with inverter-driven fans (Brand: Baltimore)
• NH₃ distribution via pumped system
• Defrosting through dual system – hot gas
Control system using PID-Fuzzy logic, analysing trends to ensure maximum stability and energy efficiency
results
o Freezing Tunnel Area:
2 coils with stainless steel tubing and treated aluminium fins (Brand: Güntner)
• 4 independent expansion circuits per coil
• 9+9 fans, with 2 variable speed drive systems to adjust fan speed according to real-time requirements, ensuring both refrigeration system stability and optimal freezing curve performance
Control system with PID-Fuzzy logic, analysing freezing trend data to achieve the highest possible freezing speed compatible with the product’s layout and packaging:
